“Branson’s celebration of ‘Branson Veterans Home Coming Week,’ is a week long celebration honoring America’s Veterans, active duty Armed Forces personnel and their families,” said Tammy Johnson, the Director of Operations for the Branson Tourism Center. “It is  filled with events and activities, most of which are free to Veterans, all with the same theme, to honor America’s Military and their families and was recently selected by the American Bus Association (ABA) for its “2010 List of the Top 100 Events in North America.”

Among others, these events include the “Traveling Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Wall;” the Showboat Branson Belle’s “Special Salute to Veterans; “The United States Marine Corps 235th Birthday Ball;” “Tony Orlando’s Yellow Ribbon Salute;” the “77th Annual Veterans Day Parade” through historic downtown Branson on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month and David Hall’s traveling “Liberty Bell and Tablets of Law Memorial.” Click here for a complete schedule of all events.

The Traveling Liberty Bell is a replica the original Liberty Bell in terms of size weight and sound. It is one of 70 such replicas commissioned by The Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) to supply bells for the bicentennial celebration of the Declaration of Independence and was acquired by David Hall after the horror of 9/11. It is the Nation’s only traveling, working Liberty Bell and its primary purpose is “To honor those who have paid the ultimate price for our Liberty, and to support those who serve in our military to protect Liberty.”

In addition to patriotic events such as Branson Veterans Home Coming Week, David Hall, who is not a Veteran, has traveled hundreds of thousands of miles towing the Liberty Bell, flanked on both sides with the two “Tablets of Law,” to the funerals of those who have served in America’s Armed Forces. Hall points out that the exhibit combines the Liberty Bell and the Tablets of Law because he believes that they are two of the greatest symbols of our country’s cultural values.

Hall said that bringing the bell to funerals is an emotional and touching experience not only for him, but for all involved. Typically, at funerals, the bell is tolled every 26 seconds during the hour prior to the start of the service ending with quicker tolls based on the specific individual being honored.

The participation of David Hall and the Traveling Liberty Bell and Tablets of Law Memorial, during Branson Veterans Home Coming Week is being sponsored by, “The Hand in Hand for Veterans Foundation.” The schedule of the Traveling Liberty Bell and Tablets of Law Memorial in Branson is as follows:

Monday, November 8, Vendors Village, Factory Merchants Mall from 1000-1500 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Tuesday, November 9, College of the Ozarks from 0900-1600 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

Wednesday, November 10, Marine Corps Ball, Branson Convention Center.

Thursday, November 11, 77th Annual Veterans Day Parade, and the Welk Theatre after the parade prior to the Tony Orlando’s Yellow Ribbon Salute.
