I seriously dislike the part of the electoral college system that allows all-or-nothing selection.
I’m in California. I like candidate A, other folks like candidate B. Well, out of 55 electoral votes, say A gets 27 electoral votes, and B gets 28. Well, when California submits the “electoral” vote, it gives ALL 55 VOTES to B! In other words, between the ballot box and the “electoral vote,” they have CHANGED MY VOTE! Just because 51% voted “B”, they report that EVERYBODY did!
That is purest Evil, and must be stopped forthwith!
We are a constitutional republic, not a democracy and as such we protect the rights of the majority and the minority when things are done properly. We lost a lot of the understanding of this concept when we took the Senate to a popular vote rather than them being selected by the House members. Since that time, we have become more and more progressive and less and less constitutional. I will ask some experts to give you a better reply than this but always appreciate your comments and interest. Blessings/sc
Thanks for the response. i hope there’s some way to fix that!
There are some fallacies in using the Electoral College as you so aptly pointed out. I’m certain things could be done in a better, more fair way. I thought the Electoral College was supposed to prevent the majority from always having the upper hand on the minority.
2, 7 and 8 are my Favorite resolutions though!
