Who is Axiom? I am a new political activist frantically trying to make up for lost time.
After spending years watching and worrying as our country moved further away from our founding principles not knowing what I could do, my civic deep freeze experience a spring thaw thanks to Congressman Ron Paul. Finally! A candidate that I could proudly endorse. Most attractive about this man to me is his willingness to stick to his principles no matter the consequences. He exemplifies and lent credence to my belief that the best leaders are born from a desire to serve. I was inspired by the possibility that this country might return to the essential values that it was founded upon. Ron Paul’s campaign for president demonstrated that there is a place for a persn of principle in the shark infested waters of American politics. If he was willing to put it all on the line for what he believed in then my conscious would allow for no less that a 100% matching effort.
What I discovered after I dove into the deep end is what is responsible for sustaining the same level of dedication today. I found out that the old adage that 1 person can make a difference is true. There is the reward that keeps me focused. I listened to this man and took his words to heart. I learned how to navigate the maze of party politics from the precinct level to the RNC. All arguments about Ron Paul’s candidacy aside, what cannot be denied is that he provided the impetuous for many good people to take their rightful role in the political system seriously-nothing but good can come from their active participation.
My love for the dream of America spurred to action by Ron Paul has transformed a quietly smoldering citizen into a laser guided heat-seeking political missile. I suspect there are a million like me and not a moment too soon.
Many have thanklessly labored lifetimes to try and for stall the destruction of the fragile dream of our founders and now we are certainly at the 11th hour. The fence-sitters find themselves atop a rising wall with only a split second in which to choose which way they will fall and on what side they will land.
As I see it, we have but two options. On one side there is the the Rule of Law which respects the unalienable rights of each individual and the on the other, Tyranny. There is no room to hedge as the smallest bit of either acts as a potent antidote to the other.
The application of the Rule of Law is as close to justice as imperfect humans can aspire on this earth. The tendency for us to yield to comfort and immediacy operates as a gravitational force and is largely responsible for the number that has fallen in favor of injustice which will ultimately lead us to tyranny.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. ”
I am one of many who hold fast to the vision.
