Oklahoma Resolution Against the RNC Rule Changes

This resolution was written to make it clear that Oklahoma does not stand with the 2012 rules passed by the RNC in Tampa, FL. This was introduced and discussed at Oklahoma's Republican state committee meeting on 12/8/12. The liberty movement in Oklahoma is working to make sure that this is put on the agenda for the next state committee to be voted on (and hopefully pass!).

This resolution was written to make it clear that Oklahoma does not stand with the 2012 rules passed by the RNC in Tampa, FL. This was introduced and discussed at Oklahoma’s Republican state committee meeting on 12/8/12. The liberty movement in Oklahoma is working to make sure that this is put on the agenda for the next state committee to be voted on. There are also individuals working to submit this as a resolution at the precinct & county meetings.

Letter of Resignation from Jesse Benton to C4L

The following letter was sent from Jesse Benton, former Senior Vice President of Campaign for Liberty, to returning C4L President John Tate.

September 11, 2012

Dear John and C4L Board of Directors,

Helping found, build, and grow Campaign for Liberty over the last four years has been one of the great honors of my life.

Every day, I was blown away by the dedication and energy of you, our team, and the thousands of activists across the country fighting together to make our country a better place. Campaign for Liberty is a rare thing in this world: a real force for good and positive change that continues to give me hope and optimism for our future.

As I stand at an important crossroads in my life, I have been blessed with wonderful opportunities but also face difficult choices. After much soul searching, I have decided that my passion lies in direct electoral politics, and I plan to work on campaigns rather than resume my work in grassroots advocacy.

It is therefore with a heavy heart that I write to tell you that I will not rejoin Campaign for Liberty’s staff this fall. Please know that you, our team, Dr. Paul, and all our wonderful members have my undying friendship and loyalty. I am of course happy to be a resource and friend to any and all of you, for whatever is in my power to provide.

Thank you as well, John, from the bottom of my heart, for your guidance, wisdom, and calm, steady hand over the years. I know that with your leadership, the power of the message of Liberty, and the energy of the supporters, Campaign for Liberty will grow stronger than ever and accomplish even greater things.

OK LABOR COMMISSIONER MARK COSTELLO ENDORSES HOUCHEN FOR OKLAHOMA SENATE

 ”When I ran for Labor Commissioner in 2010, I campaigned on my commitment to bring sound business practices and constitutional principles to State Government.  Howard Houchen shares these values and will be an invaluable asset to southeastern Oklahoma. He is unabashed in his love for his home region, and unashamed to stand strong for what is right for Oklahoma in general and right for SE Oklahoma in particular. I am proud to offer my endorsement of Howard Houchen as the right choice for State Senate, District 5,”  Labor Commissioner Mark Costello stated.

 Houchen will be facing Jerry Ellis (D-Valliant) on the November general election ballot. This race also has an unusual twist: Democrat incumbent Ellis, due to term limits, is only eligible to serve two years of the upcoming four year term. He will be forced to vacate the seat midway through the term if he is re-elected.

 Houchen commented,  “Commissioner Costello has a proven record of increasing government efficiency and accountability while controlling, and even decreasing, the costs to the hardworking taxpayers of Oklahoma. I share that vision and appreciate his leadership. I look forward to ensuring that the interests of the good folks in SE Oklahoma are heard loud and clear in Oklahoma City as we all work to achieve a more economically free and prosperous tomorrow.”

Houchen is a graduate of University of Oklahoma with a degree in Political Science, and boasts an MA in National Security Studies from the American Military University. With extensive international and small business expertise, he is extensively published in multiple conservative publications. He proudly raises his two sons alongside his wife Jeannie in the S.E. Oklahoma community of Hugo. He and his family are avid hunters and sportsmen, treasuring the bountiful natural resources that are plentiful in our beautiful state and rural communities.
