Open Letter to My Fellow R3s,

.

I have been contacted by a few of you with some concerns recently, so I thought it was critical to share regarding some issues that have arisen in the past couple of weeks about which it would be premature to detail. I hope to attain clarity in the next few days and share additional information, so I appreciate your patience.

.

In the meantime, please keep your lists (entire databases, email, phone, etc.) secure and do not oblige requests by anyone who requests copies. This advice, while necessary to highlight at the moment, due to reported efforts ongoing and expanding at the moment, is sound as a general practice.

.

There is simply no reason to pass your lists to anyone. If an individual, group, or organization representative contacts requesting your list(s), whatever their stated capacity, the best policy for the protection of the privacy of the information you have obtained from the individuals who entrusted it to you, for all of your time and your efforts to build and maintain a contact list, is to politely refuse, but offer to review any message or material the individual would like to convey to the people on your list.

.

For those who believe in Constitutional, limited government, personal responsibility, and sovereignty, it is important to reflect those principles in efforts we conduct. Therefore, such efforts should be organized, guided, and conducted by folks at the local level, who know the people in their areas. Lists and information should be kept local, not ever-more centralized.

.

In addition to the concept of the duty to protect privacy, two other best practices are to “group send” using bcc and to provide some mechanism for opting out of being contacted on each email transmission.

.

Posted on 01/18/2012

Ron Paul OK, the grassroots-based organizing effort for Ron Paul in the Republican presidential nomination race, announced on Wednesday, January 18th that organizers met and chose their leadership for the Oklahoma state level campaign.

By unanimous consent, Lukus Collins was chosen to be the Director of Operations for Ron Paul OK, and as such will also serve as Spokesperson for the group’s efforts to win the Presidential Preference Primary in Oklahoma. Collins served as an Alternate Delegate to the 2008 Republican National Convention, holds a position as a Co-Organizer of the OKC Ron Paul 2012 Meetup group, and is the founder of the RonPaulOK.com website and blog.

In further action, organizers also chose State Representative Charles Key and former State Senator Randy Brogdon to serve as Co-Chairmen for the grassroots campaign in Oklahoma. Key and Brogdon gained national notoriety in 2009 when they joined forces to author and pass HJR 1003/SJR 10, which called upon the federal government to restrict itself to Constitutional limitations and cease infringing on states’ Tenth Amendment rights. With leadership such as this, the Ron Paul OK operation is confident in its mission to identify supporters, provide positive outreach to undecided voters, and build momentum to victory for Ron Paul in Oklahoma in 2012.

Upon accepting the position, Collins said, “I am excited for the opportunity to help organize grassroots volunteers to elect the champion of the Constitution, Ron Paul. Dr. Paul’s strong finishes in Iowa and New Hampshire, as well as his recent surges in national and South Carolina polls demonstrate the growing momentum of his campaign. I expect that wave to continue building in Oklahoma and beyond. The OKC area volunteers and headquarters are here to serve as a focal point as needed by other grassroots Ron Paul groups across the state.”

As a longtime advocate of the principles of liberty espoused by Congressman Paul, Representative Key said, “Dr. Paul has led a tireless fight against big government for nearly three decades, and has proven himself as the only presidential candidate with the conviction to back up his rhetoric with real action. His willingness to stand alone when necessary in defense of the Constitution has won him the respect of countless Americans, including myself. I am honored to serve as a Co-Chairman for the grassroots campaign in Oklahoma, and I am proud to stand with Dr. Paul in his quest to restore America to her founding principles.”

Two-term State Senator and 2010 Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Randy Brogdon said, “I am inspired by Ron Paul and his dedication to securing the blessings of liberty, which are at risk today in our country. We need Ron Paul because he understands that our security as a nation can only be protected through the principles of liberty as laid out in our Declaration of Independence and protected by our Constitution. Dr. Paul is a man of steadfast faith and character, a husband of one wife for 54 years, and a pro-life OBGYN who has delivered over 4,000 babies. I call on all my fellow Republicans to stay true to our Party’s stated principles of a government limited to the protection of life, liberty, and property, and join me in supporting Ron Paul for President.”

Twelve-term Congressman Ron Paul of Texas enjoys a national reputation as the foremost advocate for liberty in American politics. Dr. Paul is the leading spokesman in Washington D.C. for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, sound money, and a return to a pro-America, non-interventionist foreign policy. He is known among both his colleagues in Congress and his constituents for his consistent voting record in the House of Representatives. Dr. Paul only votes for legislation expressly authorized by the US Constitution.

In a rousing speech to New Hampshire supporters, Ron Paul wows the crowd and continues to educate folks at home on the complicated issues of our day. It resonated with households across the land as fundraising spiked online and internet searches rose.

Who is this gentle giant of a man the media has tried to keep hidden from view? He is Ron Paul, the champion of the Constitution and friend of the people, and protector of liberty for all. In this rare prime time media opportunity, he emphasized his strong national defense position, a position often mis-conveyed by media, but clearly understood by his many military donors. Ron Paul leads the field of contenders in military donations, with more than any other Republican or Barack Obama.

The media coverup is clearly not working, because when Ron Paul speaks, he educates. And in addition to that, he walks the talk, as the husband of one wife for many years and a believer in Jesus, and a veteran, and a prolife doctor and oh yes, a congressman who knows how to say no to the big spending agenda in Washington DC!

Here are his remarks so you can hear for yourself and then share with friends:

More from Ron Paul and the Campaign here: RonPaul2012
Texas Congressman Ron Paul addressed a crowd of supporters in Concord, New Hampshire after placing second in the state primary. He told the crowd, “We are dangerous to the status quo of this country.”

It looks like it could very well be turning into a two man race for the White House on the Republican side of the aisle.

“The reason Paul has been able to slowly build his base of support in the state is that, on most issues, his views no longer lie outside the mainstream of the party orthodoxy. It’s become one of the great clichés of 2012 that the GOP as a whole has moved significantly in Ron Paul’s direction since his last campaignin 2008, and on domestic issues, it’s largely true. Paul’s endless fulminations about profligate monetary policy and the evil Fed, as well as his draconian prescriptions for a radically smaller federal government, now all sound completely within the conservative mainstream. Continue reading →

Jack Hunter writes about the Republican party and Ron Paul:

Before Barack Obama became the biggest big government president in American history, George W. Bush held that title. The Republican Party of Bush nearly doubled the national debt and gave Americans the largest entitlement expansion since Lyndon Johnson. As Sen. Jim DeMint said of that time: “You could accuse Republicans of a lot of things, but you could never convict us of being too conservative!”

Unfortunately, most of the 2012 GOP presidential candidates remain far closer to what Bush’s Republican Party stood for than the constitutional conservatism espoused by Ron Paul. But this is not necessarily true of the party as a whole. Write’s Ed Kilgore at The New Republic:

“The reason Paul has been able to slowly build his base of support in the state is that, on most issues, his views no longer lie outside the mainstream of the party orthodoxy. It’s become one of the great clichés of 2012 that the GOP as a whole has moved significantly in Ron Paul’s direction since his last campaignin 2008, and on domestic issues, it’s largely true. Paul’s endless fulminations about profligate monetary policy and the evil Fed, as well as his draconian prescriptions for a radically smaller federal government, now all sound completely within the conservative mainstream.

A new poll from Public Policy Polling shows that Ron Paul has taken the lead in the Iowa caucus race, while Newt Gingrich’s support is fading fast. A different Gallup poll shows Gringrich still holding the lead, but slipping, while The New York Times has Paul in the lead as well.

Gingrich has seen his numbers in the PPP poll drop from 27 percent to 14 percent in just three weeks, while his favorability rating is now split at 46 percent for to 47 percent against, the worst of any candidate not named Jon Huntsman. That’s quite a fall for someone who looked to be running away with the state and taking charge on the national level.

Mitt Romney has also seen his numbers tick up slightly (to 20%), putting him just behind Paul (23%) for second place. The poll measured voters who are planning to vote in the Republican caucus.

December 18, 2011

Paul leads in Iowa

Newt Gingrich’s campaign is rapidly imploding, and Ron Paul has now taken the lead in Iowa. He’s at 23% to 20% for Mitt Romney, 14% for Gingrich, 10% each for Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann, and Rick Perry, 4% for Jon Huntsman, and 2% for Gary Johnson.

Gingrich has now seen a big drop in his Iowa standing two weeks in a row. His share of the vote has gone from 27% to 22% to 14%. And there’s been a large drop in his personal favorability numbers as well from +31 (62/31) to +12 (52/40) to now -1 (46/47). Negative ads over the last few weeks have really chipped away at Gingrich’s image as being a strong conservative- now only 36% of voters believe that he has ‘strong principles,’ while 43% think he does not.

Paul’s ascendancy is a sign that perhaps campaigns do matter at least a little, in a year where there has been a lot of discussion about whether they still do in Iowa. 22% of voters think he’s run the best campaign in the state compared to only 8% for Gingrich and 5% for Romney. The only other candidate to hit double digits on that question is Bachmann at 19%. Paul also leads Romney 26-5 (with Gingrich at 13%) with the 22% of voters who say it’s ‘very important’ that a candidate spends a lot of time in Iowa. Finally Paul leads Romney 29-19 among the 26% of likely voters who have seen one of the candidates in person.

Paul’s base of support continues to rely on some unusual groups for a Republican contest. Among voters under 45 he’s at 33% to 16% for Romney and 11% for Gingrich. He’s really going to need that younger than normal electorate because with seniors Romney’s blowing him out 31-15 with Gingrich coming in 2nd at 18%. Paul is also cleaning up 35-14 with the 24% of voters who identify as either Democrats or independents. Romney is actually ahead 22-19 with GOP voters. Young people and non-Republicans are an unusual coalition to hang your hat on in Iowa, and it will be interesting to see if Paul can actually pull it off.

And if that were not enough for a Christmas celebration — the Dec 16th Teaparty Moneybomb went over $4 million this weekend specifically to raise money for the early state voting in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Caroline, Florida, and Nevada. It is not too late to give a Christmas Ron Paul stocking stuffer for the holidays. Just put a card in the stocking and tell them it is on the way!
